Is AI adoption lagging in your company? Usually it is not the licenses, the training, or the guidelines that are missing. Epiphany is what's missing.

Agentic AI has been a different league for about six months now. Most people haven't noticed. Not because they are not paying attention. Because they are using the same tool the same way as a year ago. They learned what to ask AI, what not to ask, what it is good for. The habits formed. Now they optimize within the old model. The old model, however, is gone.

The shift isn't about a better chatbot. It is about something that acts - that does work on your behalf, evaluates its own output, and corrects itself without you holding its hand.

Understanding isn't transferable

And here is what makes this genuinely hard to solve at scale in enterprises: the understanding isn't transferable. You can explain it. You can show slides. It doesn't work. Every person has to have their own epiphany.

It is the moment where they stop prompting a chatbot and start directing an agent. Until that moment happens, nothing clicks. The mental model doesn't update. You can build the best training program around someone, and without their own experience it stays an abstraction.

The productivity distribution inside organizations right now is not a bell curve. It's a cliff.

A cliff, not a bell curve

I keep running into the same gap. A small module, estimated at three months in three people. Reality: one person, one week, done. Full scope in a month in one person.

This is not because that one person is three times smarter. They had the epiphany and the others did not. And that is exactly why the productivity distribution does not look like a gentle slope from average to above average. It looks like a cliff: a group of people who moved into a different league, and next to them a gap separating everyone for whom the model hasn't clicked yet.

The question isn't whether AI will change every field. It will. The question is who inside your organization has already had the epiphany - and how you close the gap for everyone else.

If you are working out how to get people across that line from chatbot to agent, get in touch. I am happy to look at where exactly the cliff is forming for you.
